The only motivation for regressing to that kind of society and staying that way could be the desire for peace and well-being of the next generations.
When people will be compassionate enough to be willing to make that kind of sacrifice, don't you think they'll also be ready to use their technology safely without harming others anymore, instead of renouncing it?
