@Kasha, your father is planning to sell it, and apparently you don't have the money to buy it from him. How about you renting it from him, with the understanding that you will buy it ASAP? If you can make clear to him how important the place is to you, would he not want to support you in that?
Are you intending to live in that apartment, or do you just want it to stay in the family?
