I believe meditation allows us to build up energy for action. There is the potential, and the kinetic. Its like breathing in and out. When you breath in, its analogous to the process of meditation, where you allow the void inside you to be filled with the energy of potential, and breathing out is like the kinetic expression of that stored potential.

When you breathe in, you build up the potential to breathe out.

Our tangible world of form is the kinetic expression of consciousness. The nonphysical or formless world is the potential expression of consciousness.

In many forms of meditation, you try to still the mind. You cease all thought, and let go of all inclinations which define the self. In this state of utter objectivity, of "everything being absolutely fine in this perfect moment", we become aware of the vast sea of potential energy. When one becomes aware of this, the possibility for it being channeled is also there. The tapping of this potential yields work, or as we are more accustomed to relating to it: manifestation.

It could be likened unto a rubber band, and meditation is the pulling back or stretching of that rubber band. Its builds the potential that we release into the kinetic. Much like breathing in allows for the potential to breathe out, ceasing action (or as much as you can) allows for the potential for action to occur.

The degree to which this proverbial rubber band is pulled back, is in direct proportion to how aware we become of the unity that binds all things together.

Its quite natural for "coincidences" to increase when one meditates regularly. Your thoughts begin to have more "punch" to them. This buildup of energy also occurs during sleep. Sleep is not just for the body. If you get a full nights rest of sleep, you'll notice a similar increase in the power of your consciousness. Even more so when you are meditating also.
