Kindred just nailed it, the key is to stop reading in your head, you should just look at the word and know what it is.

It takes a while to break from this habit but with practise it can be done. You can do some exercises like count to 5 while you're reading to make sure you aren't using your tongue.

To take this strategy one stop further, whenever I read something, I probably only read about 60-70% of the words (unless it's something technical). Again even these words, I look at w/o saying.

I also find that reading fast helps me stay focused and interested.
