Well, I have been successful in deliberately creating many wonderful things through the conscious application of LoA (as I understand it), but I had zero results through the Nichiren approach. At least as far as the "stuff" is concerned. I had much better results applying practical magic (long story), but found it somewhat limiting.
I did get some measure of peace for a long time, though, and the "inside" journey was pretty cool. Monthly group prayer for world peace (kosen-rufu gongyo) was an incredible experience. 200-300 people, all chanting the same prayer, so the vibration was physical as well as emotional. Add to that the knowing that all around the world, others are doing the exact same thing at the same time, it's the vibe sent 'round the world!
But like any similar group, folks suddenly wanted to take over every moment/aspect of my life, and I wasn't having it. (You're right about the "shakubuku."
) So the search continued, until I saw The Secret. The lightbulb went on, and I began learning more and more. Now I keep my attention on the things I want, I reach for the best feelings I can get, and let the Universe handle the rest. My only job is to feel good. I can do that.
The rosary is a hold-over from my Roman Catholic days, and a gift from my mother. Twice around the circle is 108, which I take as a symbol that we're all one. Fundamentally, we're all seeking the light, no matter what we call it or ourselves. We just believe in different paths to getting there. It's all good.
Thanks for asking! I hadn't really taken the time to examine the differences and similarities. I really like where I am now, but I'm coming to understand it's all because of where I've been.
