If it wasn't bolded on the about page I would not have put together the purpose from the list of recent posts.

I took the stated purpose as the baseline driver for the content and gauged congruence. I do believe that content should reflect the overall direction of the blog/website's intended purpose. This helps to build a steady readership who will come back to the site for more new posts. Centering content on a purpose helps build the relationship between the author and the readers.

For example, I have a hard time believing a blog is congruent if its a "how to make money" blog where the posts are about how to make money but the writer is not living the path of the information published.

I'd like to hear your perspective on this.

Here are some of the SEO blogs in my feedreader, lots of content from people who are totally congruent in writing about and doing seo:

SEOmoz Blog | Search Engine Marketing News & Tips
Search Engine Guide - Small Business Help for Website Promotion and Increased Search Engine Traffic
Search Engine Journal
SEO blog - SEO Tips, Social Media Marketing for the learner.
Make Money Blogging with Caroline Middlebrook
Small Business Search Marketing by Matt McGee | SEO and Marketing Discussion for Small Businesses
SEO, Web Design & Online Marketing Tips : : Web Profits
Hey,

Sorry, from your post I thought you were saying grizzly's site had some good SEO information but that it was not "not congruent with the idea that the blog is about the practical keys to a successful life" . I agree with you on that with regard to the OP's site.

Thanks for the links I'll check them out.
