I know, had the same reaction, which is why I barely tried it, then put it away. You're not the only one, in fact a big criticism of this book is that it is written so damn technically, it intimidates some people, or they just can't understand it.
There are some interesting examples of people getting what they wanted by a certain date, including the author, in the book, but it's easy to miss because of so many technical wordings.
However, I did read through it enough to be able to show my friend how to do it.
She first tested it out by attempting to get a loan as her goal. She told me one day a friend just came up to her and told her about a bank that gives loans. So I assumed she must have mentioned that she was looking for a loan, but she said no, she didn't tell anyone about it.
From that, I thought this MIGHT be worth a try..
