Steve must really hate you.
He accepts anyone as a friend, but to stay his friend is a great feat. I would say that you should not worry about it. I can't really see Steve doing this, but perhaps there was a reason for this. I don't think Steve goes around haphazardly deleting friends on Facebook, but I really don't know. You should message him on Facebook and ask what's up.
