However, the countertop drink water filter system seems to have some issues. I am living in a very old apartment (rent), and the kitchen faucet seems to be non standard.
1 Do you think its worth the time/energy to replace the faucet or to find
to force fit the adapter?
(this seems a lot of commitment.. and I could move within a year)
or
2 Should I drink the water from the shower filter
and return the countertop filter?
or
3.Return the Aquasana countertop and get a PUR 2-Stage Dispenser
or something else that is not a countertop.
Any other suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thank you!

Alex, Aquasana is an excellent choice. I decided I'd venture into this business and among all the water filters I've researched and tested, Aquasana came out on top. I'm going to start distributing them in my country in a couple of weeks.
Shower filter is good, but it's not as effective as the countertop unit (b/c it's designed to filter warm and fast flowing water). Any pitcher type filter will perform even worse, these things just can't handle things as well as a "real" filter.
I'd definitely try to find an adapter or a new faucet. Any plumber should be able to help.
