Have a PhotoGraphic Memory, Become a Genious, Multiply Like a Calculator, Read Whole Pages at Once? Photo Reading- Read Whole Pages at Once
There are some weird claims and stories with photoReading. Many of them are about stories of people who photoread a book, then later, when they needed the information, it spontaneously just came to them.
The basic claim is that you read the entire page at once, and not the individual words. You will not consciously see the words. But later, you can mentally call up any piece of information from what you read and use it for whatever you want.
Some people get creative ideas after photreading a book;
Quote:
A PhotoReader forgot someone's name. He PhotoRead the telephone book and the name immediately came to him seconds after PhotoReading the page it was on.
A minister PhotoRead a section of the Bible before sleeping one evening. He dreamed about a Bible story and how it related to a problem in the life of one of his parishioners. He was able to use his insights to counsel the parishioner.
A home brewer PhotoRead a new book on beer-making. That night he dreamed of a new recipe which he later tried. It was his best batch yet.
An amateur chef found himself creating delicious new recipes after PhotoReading his library of cookbooks.

Others claim that information just came to them spontaneously:
Quote:
A PhotoReader needed to jump start his car but could not remember the procedure. He had a "do-it-yourself" manual that he had PhotoRead months before. When he opened the book he instantly turned to the exact page that described the procedure. (Could be coincidence)
A salesperson from London PhotoRead a selection of books on self-esteem and confidence building, because his sales were low. He noticed an immediate change in his confidence, attitude, and sales.
A PhotoReader forgot someone's name. He PhotoRead the telephone book and the name immediately came to him seconds after PhotoReading the page it was on
An attorney found himself challenging an expert witness during cross-examination without a clear sense of why he was asking the questions. It became obvious as the expert witness' testimony unraveled. The attorney had PhotoRead books the evening prior, which contained facts contradicting those of the witness. At a conscious level, the attorney did not know the facts. From an other-than-conscious level, his mind had given him the guidance necessary to achieve his goal.

I have this course and the book, froma few years back, and I tried the exercise where you photoread the dictionary and then go back and find certain words and exactly where on the page they were.
Results- I have to say I was pretty accurate doing it, but I've still to be fully convinced.
Still, what makes PhotoReading different from regular speed reading are the claim that you can get creative ideas, dreams, and be able to spontaneously call up the information when you need it
Speed Reader X
This is another speed reading program, which others who aren't satisfied with Photoreading, claim it is the alternative to PhotoReading..
"Speed Reader-X is designed to make learning speed reading fast and easy. The system consists of 10 lessons. The lesson objective is explained before the lesson begins. You then practice the lesson using the software. As your eyes scan the text on the screen you are un-learning bad habits and learning new, good habits. You click the Next button, words flash and you begin to quickly overcome the roadblocks you were taught in school."

Pros: I saw the infomercials but was skeptical. Then I saw this demo which led me to the company site. I am a believer now. I thought it was a crock and was looking for a reason to slam it but after 2 weeks my reading speed has more than doubled. I wish I had tried it sooner.
Cons: The lessons and documentation were good but the bonus dvd was hard for me to use on macosx. It has a pc version only. The actual speed reader x software works on pc and macosx, but the bonus disk only works with pc. I used the demo with emulation but it did not work on the ebook disk, could just be me maybe someone else had better luck. Still well worth the price.

It's software and you can download a free demo from various sites..
EYEQ
You might have seen this one on late night TV.
This one claims you can read ten times faster than normal:
Quote:
Read two, five, or even 10 times faster than you do right now
Learn and master new concepts in record time
Dramatically enhance your ability to concentrate
Improve your memory and sharpen your focus
Utilise far more of your brain’s capacity for high-speed
|
And these are the supposed after benefits you can have:
Quote:
You could blast through your entire email in-box in a matter of minutes — with a perfect understanding and recall of every single message.
You could absorb everything from memos, reports, and contracts to magazine articles and whole books and novels, in a fraction of the amount of time it takes you now and with much greater comprehension.
You could read all those novels you’ve been meaning to get to when you “find the time” and get so much more enjoyment out of them than you ever would have before.

This too is software, and there have been some complaints with this program, and others swear by it at the same time.

It was a life changer.

Eye Q is about devoting more than just 7 minutes to helping improve your reading speed. I did the program, as was suggested, and I now read steadily at 1200WPM with detailed comprehension of the material I read. The most important thing to remember is to practice inbetween lessons using the comprehension tests and the reading speed tests.
Always do the extra lessons featured in the software, and follow the instructions step by step. Since finishing this program, I can soar right through even my mother's Gleim CPA Review books and remember important information about things I don't normally have interest in. The most essential lesson you are taught by Eye Q is to pick out information. Not everything you read in a book is something you need to remember. The majority of a technical book is fluff. And Eye Q helps you train your eyes and brain to detect relevant information quickly and to remember that information. Fraud

I ordered this product to see it I could use it to help the kids I teach. You get a certain number of uses to see how it works. It merely gives a couple of things over and over. My credit card was charged the full amount for the product. I returned it but NEVER GOT MY MONEY BACK.

Harry Lorayne's Super Power Memory-Have a Better Than Photographic Memory?
Harry Lorayne is a former magician and memory expert. He lectures and has written several books on having a perfect memory.
From Wikipedia:
Quote:
To show his amazing memory power, Harry Lorayne would stand beside the president of the club he was visiting and be introduced to each member. The number of members of a club could reach up to 1,500.
After an hour and a half, Lorayne would speak about memory for about 20 minutes and then ask if anyone had a question.
He promised that if he couldn't greet the questioner by name, he would pay him or her $1,000. Amazingly, he remembered the names of every member of the audience.[citation needed] Lorayne also made news by memorizing and recalling information from several phone books with 100% retention

I think the last time I read the book and listed a number of items that I recalled, was around September of last year, about 7 months ago.
I haven't read the list since then! So I'm going to list them, from memory again and see if this method really works;
Carpet, Paper, Bottle, Bed, Fish, Chair, Window, Telephone,Cigaratte, Nail,Typewriter, Shoe,Microphone..
Ok, that's what I get, if it's right, 100% then this is a keeper, if just a little right, it's still a keeper, and if I'm way off, I'll just take Ginko from now on....
I've tried hypnosis, paraliminals, and subliminals, and this method in my opinion, absolutely works..
I prefer Lorayne's method, the items are burned into your memory and easily recalled.
The book is funny, easy to read and understand. If you try it, you can begin memorizing whole lists in minutes, at least, that was my experience.
Here's a video demonstration using a cute 5 year old..
