Default Need advice: water filter

Dear members,

After reading the forums here, and doing my research,
I decided to try a water filtering system.
I have purchased bottled water for the last X+ years, so decided
to give this one a try.

The Shower Filter from Aquasana seems to work quite well.

However, the countertop drink water filter system seems to have some issues. I am living in a very old apartment (rent), and the kitchen faucet seems to be non standard.

1 Do you think its worth the time/energy to replace the faucet or to find
to force fit the adapter?
(this seems a lot of commitment.. and I could move within a year)
or
2 Should I drink the water from the shower filter
and return the countertop filter?
or
3.Return the Aquasana countertop and get a PUR 2-Stage Dispenser
or something else that is not a countertop.

Any other suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thank you!

Alex
