absolutely. eg. rabbits and birds and chimps constantly preen and grooming each other. They have standards too, even higher ones in a lot of cases. Their instinct is to produce healthy offspring that will survive and extend their lineage - to do that you need a pretty schnazzy and self-respecting mate.
