This question can be answered simply by reviewing the type of persons one meets in dreams, particularly lucid dreams and astral projection experiences. If one does not usually meet a certain person during dreams, then it is hardly likely that one would meet that person in the after life.
A person's present psychology carries over in the after life. Thus the person will associate in a way that is similar to what transpired in the earthly life.
There are both positive and negative realities in the afterlife. As in this life, nearly everyone hopes for the best, and everyone wants to achieve their ultimate well-being, in the afterlife there is a similar approach, which may or may not be realised.
