Default Looking for some asking out a stranger advice

I want to ask out a girl who works at one of my local Applebee's, and I was hoping to get some advice. I've read some generic asking out a stranger advice, but any specific tips for a scenario like this? Not a whole lot of room for small talk when she keeps fairly busy and whenever I'm there I'd only see her on the way in and the way out. And some additional details: I don't know how old she is, but she seems to be around my age (I'm 20) and I find this girl pretty attractive, but my friends don't seem to think so. As for myself, the closest thing I've had to girlfriend was a girl in high school who I was hooking up with for a couple months and took to prom, but we never had sex. It didn't end well since she was moving down South, and her way of saying goodbye was completely ignoring for her last two weeks here. All other times I try to ask out girls, especially in school, I fail miserably. Most recently, there was some mutually heavy flirting with a girl I work with and she had come out one night with another good friend of mine, who she told she had feelings for me; Once I finally mustered up the guts to ask her out (Christmas Eve), she told me some other guy had asked her out the night before and that they were now dating.

Now that I've written much more about myself then I originally intended, I'd love to hear some thoughts on this.
