This is where theistic religion usually loses me. Using "energy" here instead of God is easier to grasp. Otherwise, we have the question of which god (Zeus, an Abrahamic God,
etc.)

I don't think anyone is arguing this happened by chance. Natural selection is not by chance and neither would the "energy" approach be by chance.
