Default Adam's Introduction

I'm Adam Alexander, one of the people selected to be a moderator on these forums. I'm not yet certain which forum I've been selected for yet, because I listed more than one that I would be interested in, but I'm hoping for Emotional Mastery, Character and Contribution, Technology, or (most of all) Spirituality.

As for who I am, I am a computer nerd. I enjoy learning so much that, rather than take the fast track through college, I'm taking a more leisurely pace at a technical college. Unfortunately, all of my degree-specific courses have been taken, and I only have generals left towards my degree, but while I'm learning about underwater basket weaving, I'm also the only dedicated tutor at my campus, as well as an instructor for the associate-level computer courses.

In my spare time, I am a programmer for Project Wish, a community driven project that hopes to recreate many of the things that Wish could have been, had it not been canceled. Wish was a massively multiplayer role playing game that hoped to move away from the standard hack-and-slash style of current MMO games, but was cancelled during beta testing for undisclosed reasons. I'm designing a dynamic weather engine that can take qualities from the terrain, such as deforestation and fires, and affect the weather realistically. I'm also giving heavy input into the economy, as well as helping with the world-creation tools.

Before this chapter in my life, I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, and I joined the Army when I was 18. I was discharged because of a medical condition. Basically, I ran too often, so my hip slowly gave out until I wasn't able to run fast enough to keep up with the Army's standards. I don't think that it was much help that I considered the (for then) brand new war in Iraq to be unlawful, so despite my pride, I accepted an honorable discharge.

I hope to get to know everyone, and I plan on being at least as much help as everyone will help me.

Thank you, Steve!
