Sorry Jill... I totally disagree and would like to see your justification/proof that submitting to search engines is not necessary. If what you say is true, then I don't believe any of them would have complete site submission guidelines and links to submit your URL.

While it's true that crawling SE's should eventually pick up every site on the 'net, it doesn't always happen that way. It's much better to submit your site to be sure it gets crawled.

That's why SBI handles this automatically. They make sure every major search engine knows about your top level domain and/or ever new page you create based on the rules of each SE. SBI never submits more often than allowed, and they track your SE results and positioning so you can improve your keyword density and other on-page criteria if necessary to get better positioning.
