I did something similar for a year, but even I was using modern ball-point pens rather than a quill, and writing on paper, rather than velum or papyrus. Also, if you are living in the woods, a flashlight can definitely be useful, rather than a lantern/candle/reed torch. I also used matches to keep the woodstove going, although I could have used flint/steel or a fire bow.
