Default Feeling others' emotions and understanding

How do you get the people in your life to understand your emotions? It is particularly difficult if people try to understand them rationally as opposed to feeling them. It is vastly different.

What do you do with people who are not feeling your emotions? I think not being able to feel someone else's emotions keeps you from really understanding them. I think that is what translates to people not listening to each other (men not listening to women for example) because they can't internalize those emotions.

How do you help those people see your perspective?

The problem is made worse when people are not WILLING to see your perspective. What do you do then? (Say it is a personal relationship where listening and understanding are very important)
