You can try it on one little spot and see if it works for you without making a big commitment. It used to work best on light skin with dark hair, but they've made advancements in the technology so now you don't need that much contrast for it to be effective. I've heard it described as feeling like a bunch of rubber bands snapping on your skin. Have you ever tried that epilady machine? It pulls your hair out by the root, and some women swear by it. My friend Vicki loves hers because you don't have to use it very often and the hair seems to grow in finer (that may be an illusion, I don't know) and she makes fun of me because when I tried it, I hollered and screamed as if there was someone, well, pulling my hair out by the roots. I guess everyone has a different pain threshold, and mine is very low.
