I have heard tell that a Kittywompus is a giant bobcat, with razor sharp claws and a head at either end. Since it has a head at both ends, it obviously doesn't have a tail, therefore it can't use the litterbox. That explains why you really wouldn't want to pet a Kittywompus and why they are so mean....
