My girlfriend was stuck in the same scenario when we first met... we had mutual friends and she did not want to be abrupt by asking me out on a date and I was also interested in her but believed she was dating someone else. She asked me to hangout with her and a few of her friends at a local bar and was welcome to bring friends.
