Hey guys, check out this article. I wonder if it was the cattle industry or the dairy foundation that paid this guy off:
The Dos and Don'ts of Protein Consumption : articles : TheSoko : Health & Fitness : Sympatico / MSN
Some of my favorite quotes are:
"Protein is one of many forms of energy we need on a daily basis in order to function properly. "
That's not why we need protien. Athough protein *can* be used by the body for energy, complex carbs are a much cleaner burning fuel. Proteins are needed to build body parts.
Here's another line:
"
DO eat for pleasure.
Too many diet regimes these days involve foods that taste like a piece of drywall. Just because a food has flavour doesn't mean it's bad for you.
Foods high in protein can be sinfully pleasurable and also have nutritional value. The next time you're in a restaurant, don't feel you have to pass on the steak in favour of a salad-satisfy your carnivorous instinct and indulge (and eat the salad too).
"
LOL. DO EAT FOR PLEASURE? Don't feel you have to pass on the steak? Carnivorous instict? Since when are we carnivores? If anything, omnivores, but not carnivores. Following this advice I would expect it to be healthy for me to eat a 21-ounce steak followed by a small salad 3 times a day.
Now for my favorite:
"DON'T take protein supplements.
Protein supplements are used mainly by bodybuilders to help build overly large muscle mass. If you ask these bodybuilders to lift up their huge arms they might not be able to."
Uhuh. So it's good to eat protein, as long as it comes from meat and dairy. Don't even think about using protein supplements guys, because it'll make your arms so big you won't be able to lift them up. Lol. Who writes this crap?
I'm not saying people should take protein supplements, but I am saying that it's very convenient how an article on protein says so, thus forcing people to stick with eating Meat as their source of protein.

The fact that you can get protein from vegetable sources is totally missing, conveniently.
I don't have to be a vegetarian to see how insane this writing is.
