Wordpress.com will host a blog for you. I believe the wordpress.com hosting does not allow adsense on the blogs hosted there. Having your own hosting also alows a larger selection of themes and the ability to customize themes to be more unique. The hosted solution allows much more storage and the use of your own domain which tends to brand your blog better.
