Coincidentally, today I made a decision to start meditating daily. I imagine it's an excellent way of dealing with stress.
Some of those tibetan monks apparently can reach reach certain brain states that can be measured on MRI scans and the data absolutely blow away psychologists - no one thought such levels were possible. Sorry that's so vague - I don't remember the specifics.
I wouldn't be overly enthusiastic about the findings - neural plasticity is a hot topic, but it needs to be tempered a little, in my opinion. It's possible that correlation has been mixed up with causation. Just saying...
