curious... does exercise (30min - 1hr of cardio for example) affect your need for rest? how many days can you go on 3hrs of sleep without getting tired anytime of the day?
I'm 20 years old, and lift weights/run twice a week. I never feel like I need any extra sleep because of it (I may be physically more tired, but mentally I'm fine -- and generally too restless to sleep anyway). I've never tried to go consecutive days (purposefully) on low amounts of sleep, but I doubt it's something I could maintain. The only side effect I've noticed is I begin to crash inbetween noon and 3:00PM. If I can make it past that, I quickly bounce back.

What happens if you get 7.5 hours of sleep a night every night during the week, do you still want to sleep all day on your day(s) off?
Yes and no. While I'm still in bed, I'll continue to want to sleep. If I give in, I'll wake up every hour or two and re-evaluate. Once I'm actually out of bed, I feel fine though. I COULD sleep all day, but I never do (except last week when I had a nasty hang-over from mixing drugs).

I read about free-running sleep and just thought it was strange that while I only NEED small amounts of sleep, I COULD sleep as long as I'm permitted to. It's seems like the body should eventually just be like "okay, enough is enough!" But I seem to lack that.
