I have bought a beautiful diamond pendant necklace for my wife for Christmas. I'm very excited! It's the nicest gift I've given her in years. She's well overdue (I'm a putz). (I'll bet she gets mad at me for spending the money)

But I am having a bit a hard time deciding when to give it to her. We have several celebrations with friends and family, that I'm sure she would like to wear it.

But I would have to give it to her on Tuesday evening. Our first party is Wednesday brunch. Then it is off to Church at 5:00. Our second party is Wednesday Night. Then Thursday morning is just us and the kids in our jammies. (pretty much all day)

I don't want her to think I'm giving it to her her for my own benefit of her showing it off. I'm not trying to show off.

I wouldn't mind giving it to her on CHristmas morning. But then she might say "I could have worn this to the parties!".

If I give it to her oin Tuesday, she could say "You're giving it to me early so I can show it off to your family."

Plus, there are her church friends, whom I have been embarrased in years past by my lack of gift giving abilities. It would be nice if she could wear it to church. But again, there's the showing off thing. If I wait till CHristmas morning, she could still wear it to church next sunday. Same goes with future family get togethers. It's not like this is the only chance she'll have to wear it. I hope she wears it a lot.

Ladies, when would you prefer it?
Also, any thoughts on how mad she'll be about the money? We can afford it. Heck, it wasn't THAT expensive. You'd spend more on a new TV. Diamonds are forever!
