I've been on the very same quest. I've tried or seen every scam out there, I'll bet. So, I'm sticking to what I know best: writing and INTENDING. I've joined the "Million Dollar Experiment" and I think the spiritual-cerebral path will manifest my desired outcomes. Do what you know best. Do what you have the greatest passion for. I've always loved to help others (I'm a retired elementary school teacher), and I'm sure you do, too. Combine them and expect a miracle. That's where I'm coming from these days.
