You need a plan.

Choose when you're going to eat - it has to fit in with your daily routine - best earlier in the day rather than later. In fact when I lost my post-pregnancy fat I had a cut-off time of about 5pm which worked great. After that I would drink water and wait for breakfast the next day!

Next -think of all the healthy foods that you just love to eat. Work out which foods you'll eat when. For example, I would have toast for breakfast with a healthy spread and then stay off the bread for the rest of the day - salad and soup for lunch (which I ate when I was hungry after breakfast - sometimes even 11am) and then when I was hungry again I had my tea which was usually corn flakes (love them!). At each meal I would eat as much as I wanted because the aim was to fill me up til the next meal. And I tried to stick to just one thing for each meal and not take in too many different tastes or foods in one meal.

So there you go! Don't know if this will be of help but it worked for me - but them I'm a woman. Maybe it's different for you men! I expect you'll need a few more carbs and meat than I had! But I think having a plan is good - otherwise any food is fair game at any time of day.

Let me know what you think!
I decided I would try this. I forced myself not to eat anything between lunch and dinner today - I've had something at that time for years - and consequently ate more than usual at dinner. Now, a few hours later, when I would normally be pretty hungry, I'm feeling completely satisfied. I'm going to continue this strategy, and I'll say how it goes!

PS - I'm not drinking soda and eating pizza, at least not often. I only drink soda when I eat out, and even then only once in a while. The food I'm eating isn't especially awful for me either, per se, it's just very highly-processed... deli meat is a staple of my diet, for example. I do probably eat more sodium than I should, though, which I'm going to try to cut out.

Also, I don't think this is a result of low blood sugar or anything like that. What I bet is happening is that the stress from college applications is coming back to bite me, combined with the depressive atmosphere of being back in school after Thanksgiving break. If I'm not able to get this under control right now, though, I'll look into it being a deeper problem!
