I haven't really talked about this yet on my Blog or other places, because I haven't fully tested my theory yet, but I believe I have now gone past this whole value thing... which I believe you are leading towards in your question above.

I still believe that providing value is important, but I no longer think that trying to provide value is required. Hmmm.... let me see if I can explain better. I have found that our Ego self is too stupid to actually realize what is really of value to the world, so trying to provide value is not necessarily the best path.

Meaning, if I had a coaching client and he wanted to make more money in life, I would no longer try to focus them on figuring out how they will provide value (kind of what Steve talks about in the article). I would actually just focus them on doing what they love and enjoy, and when they do that, they will automatically provide value to the world anyways because that's how the universe seems to organize itself.

Trying to figure out how to create value and deliver value from the point of view of Ego is kind of useless as the Ego isn't smart enough to know how to best do that.

For example, after lunch today my brother and I were parking the car and as we got out and started walking away, a lady who parked beside us said to my brother "Thank You for being careful."... meaning, she saw that he didn't slam the door into her car door. She was driving a new car. She made a point to mention that she is grateful that he had respect for that car.

How do you quantify that value? The way she expressed gratitude had an effect on me, but there is no way to quantify it. She didn't TRY to express value, she just did by BEING who she is.

Anyways...something to think about.
