I think Prasunsen also asked what I was trying to, but perhaps in a clearer way. If we take the example given- of a ship building engineer- does anyone really see a way forward from here?
My guess is that the usual replies will be either:
1) Ask the Universe
2) Is ship building your true passion??? blah blah blah- and just how do we even really know you have a true passion? (suggestions other than listing things until you cry are welcome!)
3) Maybe you should stay in your job as this is where you give true value (and then we go full circle with jobs verses being independent)
I'm not trying to sound negative, I love Steve's posts and this was one of the best yet- but I am concerened that simply telling people to follow their dreams, provide value and walk away from their jobs is going to cause a lot of heartache for many hopeful people. The idea of providing value rather than following the get rich quick mentality is founded on good principles BUT can we also have some practical advice, perhaps from Steve (just not on setting up self-help websites or other tech- stuff)! Thanks!
