I distinguish Fear as an emotion from Fear as a process. That is to say: fear isn't something you receive as feedback: it's an active movement during which you change along some continuum (which can be defined as simply as "Afraid <-> Courageous"). Thus, someone who "isn't afraid" is instead simply "not fearing".
Using that, I think I can agree with Akashic Librarian's definition of a great person.
