I can't say I had the same sort of financial luck with my car this week, although I do love my car-- it started making a weird sound, so I took it in Monday. The mechanics couldn't find the cause-- they said everything was fine. However-- something we've been watching for a while is the tread depth on my tires. We knew it was getting low, and Monday the tread was at 2/32"!! This is the old recommended point for changing tires. The new one is 4/32", so my tires were no longer roadsafe. I had to pay for new tires, but at least my car let me know gently, rather than by having something not so happy occur to let me know!
I did get free rotation and balancing for the life of the tires, and one heck of a warranty.
