To be blunt -> f*ck the other gym members. You are there for YOURSELF, not to gain the approval of others. So what if they stare you down? Who gives a d*mn? You shouldn't.
Drink a gallon of milk every day, and workout 3-4 days per week, and you'll gain muscle along with fat. When you get off the milk, you'll lose most of that fat. Then you can train and eat to kill all the fat you want.
And btw, 140 lbs at 5'7 is SKINNY. Going the anorexic route, imo.
