Default This Thanksgiving OVERCOME OVEREATING!!!! TIPS!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to give a reminder to everyone that they do not have to eat until they are WAY TOO FULL! There are a few ways to maximize your contentedness and minimize the burden on your tummy.

1. Eat a small salad first. Salads are awesome for you and if you don't have fresh veggies, you may crave them later and eat something wrong instead.

2. Have a little of each of the things you like. If you don't like rolls, don't eat them! If you only like cranberry sauce a little, only have a little! Make sure you get enough protein (vegetarians - do you hear me? *) before you load up on the fat and carbs.

3. SAVOR your food. Slow down. Enjoy every bite and chew your food well.

4. Engage in conversation around the dinner table instead of encouraging the feasting alone mentality.

5. Screw the "Clean Plate Club." You can always eat it later, and you will be glad you did. I find it's better to waste a little than to eat too much.

6. STOP EATING AT A COMFORTABLE PLACE! Just stop.

7. Save dessert for an hour or two later. You will enjoy it a lot more if you are a little hungry.

8. Give thanks to the farmers, the meal's preparers, the earth, and also to dishwashers. Resolve to help with the dishes if you didn't cook the food. This added work and praise can make a lot of difference in the meaning of the food.

Happy Thanksgiving!

* I have been a vegetarian for all but six years of my life and am still amazed at vegetarians who try to get by without protein. It is crucial to eat it. I used to think I was insatiably hungry, and would eat a load of carbs because I couldn't interpret my body's need for protein. Buy a Tofurkey or an Unturkey or something else if you have a family that does not comply.
