I can't believe no one has mentioned this but Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven
A little gem of a book that came along at a time when I was struggling to consolidate my view of the world. It really taught me that every single person, however seemingly insignificant can impact on others lives whether they realise it or not. I actually recommend this book to EVERYONE. Mitch Albom's book For One More Day about an alcoholic father who tries to commit suicide is also brilliant.
Other books that have shaped me are:
Paulo Coelho's Like The Flowing River
Michael Newton's Destiny of Souls
Coelho's book of recollections and short-stories from around the world was one of the most touching and affirming books I have read recently. Newton's book, contrary to the title, is easily accessible and resonated with me powerfully in a way that I have not come across in any other book about spirituality and why we are here.
