A quick note.
Cloning, as itself, does not equal, or require, artificial genetic alterations, and will not, as itself, produce new types of genes, or even new genetic recombinations.
If you are afraid of domesticated, bred animals messing the gene pool, the threat has existed as long as they have been domesticated and bred in the first place, about 5000-7000 years ago.
