Neophyte -- that's it precisely. And you could also change that bolded phrase to zero in even closer on the real issue:
I guess it's saving myself from my hole when I feel most important
By and large -- people would rather be a stopped "somebody" and feel themselves as important and special by reflecting on how much they have to do, then to be the "nobody" they must agree to be in order to be productive.
It's so counter-intuitive... and yet so obviously true: To be productive I must be willing to be a nobody... undefined... unnoticed.
