I like eating an organic fuji apple first thing in the morning before I hit the gym. Fuji apples are mild in tartness, they digest easily, and they provide just enough oomph to make it through a 60-minute workout w/ high energy. The ones I normally eat are small, less than 100 calories each. I often eat one in the car while driving to the gym. Whether I do an aerobic workout or heavy weight training, a single apple keeps my blood sugar stable without bogging me down like a heavier breakfast or shake. So ultimately I'm able to do a better, stronger workout.
