I found it difficult to guage the length of your sleep cycle for the nap due to the varied times of getting to sleep at the start of the nap.
I don't think you can really judge the length of your cycle until you have biphasic into a routine and it takes very little time to get to sleep for the nap.
Once you know the start time of your sleep you can start varying the wake time and see what gives the best results.
