Stray,
Words have power and meaning. The words you have chosen to use in your post tell a lot.
-In a situation where I need to begin working
-"have" to fall back on your previous experience
-job I got fired from
-I believe I had outgrown it.
-staying with a friend
You should first start by re-writing your post to say:
I'm currently in a situation where I get to start a new career. I am excited about getting back to work and I am looking forward to doing something that matters. I've been (a housewife, for example) for a while and this has given me the ability to multi task. Previously I've worked as a cashier and if I happen to accept a job here I will do an outstanding job and impress the owners so much they may give me my own store to manage. Or I plan to use this job as a base from which to look for another job.
My friend, who was so kind to take me in, is encouraging me and I feel that good fortune will come my way if I just have a positive attitude and work hard.
In the past I have thought negative, gotten fired from jobs and generally had an self defeating attitude but going forward I will change for the better.
Anyone have any thoughts on how I can get rid of the old negative thoughts and start living my life with zeal?
ANSWER:
Stray, You can do anything you set your mind to doing and you just need to keep a journal to work out your thoughts, set goals and work hard. Good things will come your way if you align both your words and your heart to it. I hope you take my post seriously because I only want the best for you.
