Unfortunately that is true, from my perspective where I have been and what I have seen. The term guide is probably too loose a definition to be usefull in this situation. If a negative ent has some knowledge or experience that can benefit us and we attract them by association "wishfull thinking" then we have gained experience or knowledge "power" from this but because they also have less desirable traits to us, one trait being that a lot of these types of spirits are renegades or thugs with karmic debts to repay and do not have a greater source of energy to network from and are forced much like we are on earth to take from their surroundings. As we take from them this "knowledge" etc then they take from us "energy" and the worst part about it is that as they associate "align their energy" with us then they gain more acsess to our very being and thoughts. This is the basis of spiritual parasitism. The underlying motivations of many lesser spirits are the same as ours, to survive. We do so in our reality by taking from that which is most vulnerable to us, animal or vegetable and so do they, but in the ways that to them are sucsessfull. A spiritual parasite can then be a guide and also our undoing, its dualist and comes with many pitfalls but has its advantages. Protection and vigilance is the answer, I would urge anyone involved in metaphysics to consistently ask for guidance from their higher guides and the light to help expel any energies "negative ents" that are not congruent with their current situation, since they may have been usefull yesterday for the greater need but today are nothing more than freeloaders.
