Yeah the eye contact thing is important,and that's probably another reason i fail is because that's one of the hardest things for me to do. I even have problems looking my family and friends in the eye for longer than 2 or 3 seconds at a time. I guess i kinda feel like if i look at them too long it's creepy or sexual (with non family member of the opposite sex anyway). How do you get over your fear of eye contact? I really need to work on that somehow.
