I'm not sure I agree with this. When making first impressions, and looking to create a good first impression, it's important to smile. If I meet someone for the first time and they look miserable, I don't think "wow, i was really impressed by that person and would like to see them again". No, it's more like "wow, that person was miserable, let's not see them again".

Obviously don't force a big smile because they look cheesy and fake. Even if I meet someone and they give just a small smile it leaves me thinking "well, maybe they are actually a fun/happy person but were just having a bad day, i'll give them another chance".

Obviously this is just my way of thinking - everyone is different! Plus, I always find that smiling, even when I don't feel like it, makes me feel better and more positive. But again, everyone is different!
