What if our destination is to know ourSelves as God. Then, the destination will always be the same. We would continue to create situations and experiences that would bring us to that knowledge. As Erin said, it wouldn't matter at all how we got there or the state of our emotions at the time, but we would always fulfill our destiny.
In the case of Al Gore, perhaps in his losing he gave rise to another leader. That leader was at least able to a large number of people out of their slumber to take a second look at the state of their country and the world.
In winning, Al Gore himself may have done that. Maybe, he would have awakened more.
Our destiny, applied to a state of being rather than a mission to complete, can be achieved any number of ways. When one door closes, many other windows open up.
