My problem is that when I add projects or tasks to improve my own life, I can't motivate myself to do them. I freeze up, and suddenly all of the little things and appointments with other people look very good to do, even if I know I'd enjoy doing them less than the stuff I want to do for myself.

I know this is because I have this belief that I'm not worth it -- I'm not worth improving. Rationally, I know this is false, but unless I get constant reassurance and motivation that I deserve to improve myself, it doesn't work. I even have a Paraliminal called "You Deserve It!" that addresses this problem, but I don't listen to it much because I dislike its spiritual overtones. Are there any other techniques or advice that I can use to address this problem? Perhaps there is something I can listen to to motivate me to improve my life?
When you've got something new, your mind usually doesn't like it. That's why change is hard. It's easy to change that though... Visualize your end goal. Feel how accomplished it feels to have done it. As you do this, straighten your posture, breathe deeply, and smile. If you do this a few times a day, you'll find yourself automatically smiling, breathing deeper, and feeling good every time you think about it. This will become the motivation for you, your goals will become pleasant to think about, and to do

Good luck!
