DAY FOURTEEN
Day Fourteen Goal: 180 words, 56 minutes (COMPLETED)
Okay, I realized that I need to use the Internet for some of my work, and that I shouldn't beat myself up for using it for work-related purposes. I said before that I didn't want to get online, but that was because when I get on, I tend to get stuck refreshing things like YouTube. So, I'll allow myself to use the internet as a resource during my work, but I won't go to any forums or sites that I don't need to go to until I complete my daily quota. I'll look up what I need to get, copy it down, and then I'll unplug.
-Writing: 248 words. After some initial struggle, I used Google Books to look up some character development information from some writing books I've previously read. Armed with that, I was able to flesh out my character a lot more easily. I still need to ask some vital questions, and it took longer than normal, but I felt calm and focused.
-Work: Oh, wow, this part went pretty bad, I gotta say. Distractions took up more time than neccessary, and I'll admit I took care of one of them slowly, which made me feel like I didn't even want to finish the task I was working on. Still, I finished a rough draft, and I'm glad I did. You know, you can't really pinpoint when something's going to end, so I'm not going to worry about it. I did manage to concentrate pretty well on finishing that one task during my time frame, so I'm proud of that at least. I think it's best for me not to focus on doing something quickly, but putting in the time to finish something, even if it takes more than an hour to do. As long as I focus on the most important things to accomplish, it won't be a waste.
