I use Newshutch. They debutted sometime earlier this year and were recommended by 37 signals, so I tried it out and have loved it since. I tried Google Reader once, couldn't enjoy it, ditched it, haven't tried version two. Tried Thunderbird, too; same. Not having any significant problems with Newshutch, so I don't see any reason to try out anything new again.

The privacy concern is knowing who you are, and seeing a list of what you read. E.g., Say I subscribe to Al-Qaeda Online and The Bin Laden Blog. Then say the CIA knew this. Would I be flagged for greater suspicion?
I have my own opinions on the subject, but I probably shouldn't bring them up here.

The privacy concerns of the Information Age have to do with connecting data points and drawing conclusions.
