I find this interesting too. I see a very interesting subculture here on Steve's website. True, there are quite a lot of young people on this forum. But rather than being mostly unhappy people that CNN describes, it seems that a higher than normal percentage of us are actually enjoying our lives now, rather than waiting til we are 50!

We (I, at least) have no delusions that the more money we make, the happier we'll be. Money doesn't make us happy, but it sure is a handy tool.

Is it wrong to make more money than most people can ever dream of having? Does that make us... greedy?

I don't think so.

Being poor doesn't help poor people, it doesn't help our society and it doesn't help our planet.

As one of my mentors says, "The best way to save a tree is to buy it."

If you find yourself reading this post and thinking nasty thoughts, look at this list. Most of the funding for these organizations comes from large donations for rich, good-hearted people!

Sierra Club - Re-greening our parks
Big Brother, Big Sister - Giving kids a adult role model to look up to when they have none.
Doctors without Borders - Giving those people who have no chance of earning $10,000 in their lifetime medical care
Red Cross - Disaster assistance when it's needed most
Make a wish foundation - Helping kids believe in miracles when they are needed most
Salvation Army - Secend hand, helping hand

As Erin said, what would the world be like if the kind, wise, compassionate, loving, peaceful people all decide to make just enough money for their own needs?
