So far as I can tell, you've got the mechanics right, but you're attributing dubious qualities to the process as a function of your attitude towards it, I think, and not because it necessarily is dubious.
If you take the case of magnetism, its also looks like "voodoo" and must have been completely astonishing to those who first witnessed it. But because science can quite comfortably account for this, we're all very comfortable with it today.
By the same token just because science cant (yet) measure and articulate the process of attraction in humans, doesnt necessarily render it any more magical or voodoo-like than in the case of magnets.
If someone "out there" is putting out vibes* that resonate with mine (be they positive, negative or otherwise), and if it is true that like attracts like in the case of humans, then it is completely explainable why similarly inclined people should be attracted to each other. They share the propensity to meet people like themselves. Therefore when they do - nobody has been remote controlled or manipulated, they have merely come together as a function of the LoA.
According to the theory of LoA, this process has the potential to be amplified by concentrating thought and desire in a particular direction. The fact that this direction may be in conflict with that persons inherent nature and beliefs, may help explain why some people seem able to manifest what they want, while others seem unable to.
A useful question to ponder in all this, is what is the purpose the LoA, why does it exist? My view is that part of our purpose here is to know ourselves and grow. Reality is a physical mirror for our spiritual dimension. We attract like into our lives to show us who we are. Thats why, from a holistic point of view, LoA makes so much sense to me.
